Bones of the Fallen |
Stage 1 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Tomb of Guardians) (3, 2) |
You enter the Tomb of Guardians in your search for the Lord of Guardians. The Mind told you that the Lord of Guardians was around the Undercroft. But you could not see find him there. When you do find him he is standing in a long vaulted chamber full of empty pedestals. As you draw near you see that he grips his Scythe with tremendous force. Fury burns within him. |
The Guardian Lord turns on you, 'HOW DARE YOU...' He then sees you for the first time and stops mid sentence. 'Ah, I'm sorry. You would not know. I am told that organic life forms either burn or bury their dead. We Guardians take our dead and rest their likeness here in the Tomb. They are placed in honor on the pedestals you see before you. It is an important place for us. As we remember that we can die, but if we do, it is always for a good reason. This is a place of reflection for us. That sacrifice in not done in vain.'
'But the pedestals are empty, and the stone statues are gone... Apart from that, what is the reason for you entering the Tomb?' You quickly realize that maybe you should not be here and hand him the Sanctuary Data Crystal. You mumble that the Mind told you to give it to him. He takes the Crystal from you, puzzled. 'Odd, why didn't the Mind just think it? He then presses the Crystal against his forehead. The Crystal glows for a second, and then the light slowly fades form it. Crushing the Crystal in his fist he turns to you. 'These Shard are even using the very air against us! They are a clever enemy. Can you tell me more about them?'
You think for a moment then mention that they are a Crystalline life form that uses Silicon to replicate themselves. The Guardian Lord brings up his hand stopping you in mid flow. 'We are made from Granite. This is high in Silicon, but why would they steal the bodies..' You blink back at him.
A memory flashes into your mind of a Pit with strange runes and three Lightning Shard standing round it. Quickly you ask if he has anything that is highly explosive. The Guardian Lord nods grimly, 'We have taken stock of our enemy this time. Here take this Shard Incinerator Grenade Blueprint. It is more potent than it looks. What are you going to do?'
You look around at the empty Pedestals and say, 'You better hope I'm wrong. I shall return when I know more.' You should look around the Undercroft to see if there is a Shard Summoning Pit.
You receive 1 x Shard Incinerator Grenade Blueprint |

Stage 2 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Chamber of Tribute) (2, 2) |
You search the Undercroft for a second time. Again you do not find what you are looking for. You then find another Chamber. Entering it you discover your worst fears. In the center of the small chamber is a Shard Summoning Pit and three Lightning Shard standing around it. The Pit is half full of a silvered liquid. Last time you needed something explosive to destroy a Summoning Pit. |
You begin to unpack the Incinerator Grenade, as you do so a Shard Worker drags a Guardian Body over to the Pit and throws it in. You watch in horror as an Incinerator Shard standing next to the Pit burns the body as it floats on the silvery liquid. Burning away the rock to reveal the silicon inside.
Revolted you throw the Grenade and dive into the stairway. A silent flash of light envelops you for a second. You turn and look back at the chamber. The shard are utterly vaporised and the Pit is reduced to a smoldering ruin.
You should return to the Guardian Lord and tell him what you have done. |
Stage 3 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Tomb of Guardians) (3, 2) |
The Guardian Lord stands in silence, his head tilted to the side as if listening. As you approach he focuses onto you, 'Have you found out what was happening to the remains of our Honored Fallen?' |
Silence stretches out between you. You stare up at the Guardian Lord, take a deep breath and tell him what you found. That the Shard were burning the Statues to reclaim the Silicon which they were trying to use to make more Shard. Unfortunately you got there too late. You saw no Statues remaining, but you did stop them from making more Shard.
The Guardian Lord bows his head, 'Thank you for your efforts. I see the Minds wisdom in sending you to me with that Data Crystal. But I have some bad news for you. The Mind has whispered that we should go to Mantapa immediately. Your friend seems to be doing badly. I shall meet you there. I must seal this Chamber against any more violation.' |
Stage 4 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Mantapa) (2, 4) |
The Guardian Lord waits for you, 'Good, you are here. I have been looking for this Human the Mind keeps mentioning. But I cannot find her. She must be hidden somewhere connected to this area. Do you have any idea how we can find out what these Warriors are up to, maybe they know where she is? |
You mention that the TIU have a love for security and documentation. They all carry Datapads which have their squads orders. The Guardian Lord nods, 'Good, go acquire this Datapad, return to me and I can unlock it. We can deduce their motives and decide what to do next.' |
Stage 5 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Mantapa) (2, 4) |
The Guardian Lord greets you as you approach, 'Have you acquired the TIU Alpha Strike Datapad yet?' |
He takes the device in his stone hands, 'This is indeed odd technology to my eyes, very ingenious. Let me scan the device.' His hand glow slightly, and the Datapad gives a loud bleep. 'The Datapad is now active, please look through the files. It would take me longer.'
You take the Datapad and search through the Mission data. You eventually discover the Mission Directives for Alpha Strike. They list the usual TIU stuff about setting up a Perimeter and a base of operations before striking out for the secondary objectives. You see an amendment to one of the main Secondary Objectives. Pressing this you groan as you read that the TIU seem to have made an alliance with the Echo.. They believe that the Echo have more experience with Altus tech.
You then read that the Echo asked for a powerful Psycher to help re-start some systems of the Sanctuary. Panic grips your throat as you read LeReinas name listed as the top candidate. The objective lists the location of the interface with the Altus tech as the Vault of Wisdom. You must find the Vault of Wisdom put a stop to this experiment at once.
You explain hurriedly to the Guardian Lord that we need to find the Vault of Wisdom. He shrugs, 'It is near here, just off the Vessel of Wisdom. I shall meet you there.' |
Stage 6 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Vessel of Wisdom) (12, 8) |
The Guardian Lord stands ready for battle. |
He nods, 'These TIU are a persistent lot. I've had to defend myself several times just waiting for you. I managed to talk to one of them before he threw himself at me in a suicidal attack, the fool said that the only one with the Security Codes to enter the Vault was TIU X9PB Officer (Elite). You must find this warrior and defeat him before we can advance. I shall stay here and protect way out if you fail.'
You must defeat the TIU X9PB Officer (Elite) to gain access to the Vault of Wisdom. |
Stage 7 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Vessel of Wisdom) (12, 8) |
The Guardian Lord has TIU and Shard littering the ground around him. 'Have you defeated the TIU X9PB Officer (Elite)?' |
He nods, 'Good good, you go on to the Vault. I shall clear the Vessel of these intruders. They have not been given Sanctuary. I hope you find the Human. Now go. I don't think we have much time.' |
Stage 8 |
Location: | Sanctuary of Ages (Vault of Wisdom) (4, 2) |
You burst through the door into the Vault of Wisdom. You see three TIU Soldiers protecting a Darkfire Glyph. |
You cannot see LaReina anywhere, they must have taken her somewhere. You guess that these Soldiers know where she went. You take a step toward them, 'Do not come any closer. Or we will be forced to open fire.' You guess that he is the one in charge. You kill him where he stands. His helmet clatters against the floor. The other two Soldiers instantly back off.
You stand perfectly still. You point at the Darkfire Glyph. In as calm a voice as you can manage you ask if LaReina was taken through by the Echo. The Soldiers blinks back at you. Fear is in his eyes. 'No, no... The Commander LaReina was taken back through the Tactical Portal to The Spearhead for debriefing.'
You laugh, more like for further testing. You thank the Soldiers and tell them to go through the portal first. You watch as the portal manifests a ball of light which swallows the Soldiers whole. You see that they used no security code. Even the TIU must have emergency measures that don't require them.
You step toward the Tactical Portal, as you do so you hear the whisper of the Mind. You momentarily stop. 'Greetings Unit. I sense that you are about to leave. I must thank you for all your help. You have made it so my Guardians can hear my thought, you have restored my Guardian Lord and also galvanized him when he faltered in the Tomb. I am in your debt. I see that I cannot be here in this realm. I cause too much harm with my presence. So I shall leave. We shall go back to where we belong. I shall now repel all Echo from my borders. Thank you again Unit. If you need any help and it is within my power to do so, I shall. I hope you find your friend. I feel that she is in great danger. Many blessings to you Unit. '
You smile - take a deep breath and follow the Soldiers into the ball of light.
You receive 328,647 Xp + 10 Skill Points. |
