Hide in Plain Sight |
|
Stage 1 |
Location: | TIU Spearhead (L3 Security) (1, 16) |
You have not seen many people whilst on your travels through the Spearhead. Only robots and Soldiers, so you are surprised when you find a Maintenance Technician swearing at a workstation. |
|
He looks at you with open loathing, 'We are having issues with the computer systems. There is a variance in the power supply which I cannot nail down. I really need to contact the Service Deck, but the Intercom is down. Now the Spearheads Intercom is based on a localized com-field with secure Signal Stations. But if that is attacked during a battle, Maintenance have a hardwired communication line to sensitive areas within the ship. Unfortunately the Security Bots know this and are protecting the Service Ring from everyone - including us for some obscure reason!'
'I need someone to access the Service Ring, so I can talk to the Maintenance Chief about the bug in the system. You are my new favorite person, so you can go. You will need to get past the Mk32s to do so. I can tell you that there is a Friend or Foe detection system within the Security Bots. We had to implement that because the Mk32s kept shooting each other, due to the ridiculous anti-intrusion measures. If you could construct a Mk32 HF Tag that would be great. You will need to bring it back to me because I need to add the Secondary Security Protocols for it to work properly, here take this Mk32 HF Tag Blueprint - good luck. '
You receive 1 x Mk32 HF Tag Blueprint |

Stage 2 |
Location: | TIU Spearhead (L3 Security) (1, 16) |
The Frustrated Technician is frowning at the work station when you return, 'Have you acquired the Mk32 HF Tag? I need to add the Secondary Security Protocols for it to function properly.' |
|
For the first time the Technician's face brightens, he snatches it from you and starts scrolling through the workstation menus and finally uploads a few files to the Tag. There is a shrill bleep and the Technician hands it back to you. 'Ok, here is the Mk32 Authorization Device. It will allow you to pass yourself off as Mk32 Security Bot. But you must do this before the new codes are refreshed. That happens every 35 minutes. So don't dawdle. Access the Service ring and contact the Maintenance Chief and see if he knows anything about a fix for this fluctuation in the power supply.'
You receive 1 x Mk32 Authorization Device |

Stage 3 |
Location: | TIU Spearhead (L3 Security) (2, 2) |
A Mk32 stands in the middle of the small room scanning it constantly. It is impossible to get past it as it targets everything that enters the room with its KL19 Plasma Cannon. |
|
As soon as you step into the room the Security Bot targets you instantly. You hear the KL19 warming up immediately. You hold the Authorization Device in front of you. The Bot senses the movement, after a second the scan shuts off and the Mk32 powers down and returns to its vigilant scanning of the room.
You may now enter the Service Ring Access |

Stage 4 |
Location: | TIU Spearhead (L3 Service Ring) (2, 2) |
The small room is dominated by the tall steel pillar at its center. The Small view screen has a simple menu with several maintenance departments listed. |
|
You met that Chief Technician, you hope he hasn't left the Interceptor Bay. You wait for for the Line Station to connect to the Interceptor Bay. After a few seconds the screen displays a spinning TIU Symbol and a light flashes beneath it. You continue to wait... You are just about to give up when the flustered face of the Chief Technician appears in the view screen. 'Oh... Captain. How did you get access to the Line Station..'
You sense he is about to rant on about breaches in protocol, you wave an irritated hand in front of the view screen and this silences him. You explain that there are problems in Security. Which involve irregular Power glitches and ask him if he has found a way to purge the Dark Charge from the systems yet. At your words the Chief pales slightly, 'Oh, it's got to Security... Well its moving through the power lines as I feared. Yes I have figured out how to get rid of the Power Irregularities. Once I knew it the problem is based on a dimensional warp, I could scan for it and isolate the associated Dimensional Resonance and counteract it. Simple really. I shall upload the details of the fix to you now. Just give it to Len and he will deal with the rest.'
You receive 1 x Spearhead Power Purge |

Stage 5 |
Location: | TIU Spearhead (L3 Security) (1, 16) |
Len is staring blankly at the workstation when you return, 'Ah, good you're back. Did you get into contact with the Chief?' |
|
You hand him the data store. He immediately snaps it into the workstation scanner. 'Ah it's not a virus but a dimensional corruption. Very strange. Any way I can initiate this into the system and it will be copied across the Spearhead. That is the beauty of Security, it gets everywhere. Thank you for all your help. I couldn't have done it without you.'
You receive 229,563 Xp +10 Skill Points |
