In a battered and forgotten part of the Cerrath Facility you find a Resource Department Cyborg typing into her Datapad.
The Cyborg looks at you, 'Hello Unit. My designation is Dx39, I have been send down here to update the datafiles of the Filestore. With the re-set of the Mainframe recently, this section of the Facility has been reinstated to memory. It is not understood why this area was deleted from the main Datastore, but the Mainframe has tasked me to detail the condition of the Sub Basement and connecting areas.' The Cyborg flashes you a quick smile, 'I would be very grateful if you would assist me Unit. I have met another Cyborg down here, but I have no record of it's Model profile. I require a scan of the unknown Unit.' She hands you a Blueprint, 'If you will help me, please compile this Cerrath Unit Profile. I look forward to your positive response.' The Resource Department Cyborg smiles at you when you return, 'Hello Unit. Have you compiled the Cerrath Unit Profile of the unknown Cyborg in this area?'
She takes it from you, 'Thank you for your help. I'll just check the stats with our Product Catalog.' She types on her Datapad for a moment, then frowns. 'Odd, there is no mention of this Model in our current Unit listings. I will just check the deleted listings.' After a few seconds she nods and grins at you, 'Yes, this Unit was upgraded and the line flagged for termination. I shall just re-issue the order.' You flinch at Dx39's heartlessness, then ask her when the Model was upgraded. She glances at her Datapdad, 'Ummm,that would be 150 years ago.' She looks at you blankly. She obviously is not the brightest Unit ever produced by Cerrath, you take a breath then say. 'That was a very long time ago. You mentioned that this area was deleted from the Mainframe, I bet they did that and have survived down here ever since. That is a tremendous survival instinct as well as determination. Is it really a good idea to destroy such a model?' Dx39 blinks at you with her scarlet optics glowing in the gloom. 'I see what you mean, such experiences could prove to be a valuable element in software design. Data from experience is always more potent that those extrapolated from simulations. I shall recommend a product re-call and have the Model marked for overhaul. We don't want to waste anything that will give us an edge in the current economic climate.' She types into her Datapad, 'Cerrath has agreed to your proposal. She has also detected a breach in the Sub Basement perimeter and has asked that you accompany me in a survey of the connecting areas. We must be sure that no threat lies beneath the Facility. Cerrth has done a sonic scan and uploaded the results to my Datapad. Don't worry, if we find a serious threat I shall return to Cerrath and we shall deal with it.' The Cyborg folds her arm, 'There is an area of rapid Descent not too far away. I shall meet you there.'
