Silvered Menace |
Stage 1 |
Location: | Rah Kain (Crest) (6, 10) |
You see two Golgesh arguing loudly. One is dressed in long flowing robes and has an air of quiet calm. The other is waving his arms around in exasperation. |
You get closer to the arguing Golgesh. The one in long robes stands completely silent. This only seems to enrage the other warrior Golgesh. 'I must speak to the Tender at once, we cannot access the strange device that we shot down. It must have a connection to Stormpost, but only the Tenders have experience with constructed technology in this entire Sector!' The robes figure nods slowly.
After a moment the Warrior walks round in a small circle and struggles to remain calm. The figure then speaks in a soothing silky voice, 'I understand Tarkath. But Rah Kain has suffered a serious security threat. We must make sure that the threat has... left our location. We can then relax the seal on the Dome and allow you access to a Tender...'
At the feet of the Robed figure a stalk suddenly sprouts. At its top is a round, meaty ball. This splits in half revealing a huge Cats Eye. It stares meaningfully at the Robed Figure for a long moment. The Robed Figure stiffens visibly, you instinctively know you have been spotted and this Robed Golgesh has just been told about it. You spin round to see another Cats Eye glaring at you from an identical fleshy stalk. It blinks and shrinks instantly back into the floor of the Crest.
The Robed figure actually laughs to itself. Without turning round the Golgesh continues it's conversation with the Tarkath. 'Now brave Tarkath, I must remind you that my sole duty is to administrate between Rah Kain and our House Lord within our glorious Dominion. Therefore my primary concern is the safety and growth of Rah Kain itself. I realize your concern is to capture the human settlement of Stormpost, so our focus is settled on differing functions but we both serve the Dominion. You can see the Tender when the infiltrator has LEFT Rah Kain. Until then you might as well return to the Landing Site via the LAUNCH POD south west of us.
The Tarkath looks dumbfounded back at the Administrator, he obviously knows where this Launch Pod is located. But the Robed Golgesh just wants rid of the 'infiltrator', assuming you will find your death at this Landing site. You have to get out of Rah Kain, this Launch Pod is probably the quickest way to do just that. |
Stage 2 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Landing) (11, 13) |
You find the device the angry Tarkath mentioned. Two Golgesh warriors look at it in utter confusion. |
The Golgesh poke the metal Recon Unit with their swords as if trying to wake it from sleep. Then one turns to the other, 'This is not working Gantark. This is not like our technology. I guess that some of the lads have stripped something off it so they can sell it back to the Tender. It's his own fault, giving such silly prices for important alien devices. We had best go get the missing pieces. The Tender will be angry if it is not complete.' The other Warrior shrugs, sheaths his sword and they both trudge off.
You stare at the abandoned unit. You guess that the Guards assume the Unit is safe as it's located deep within their own compound.
You approach the Unit, and see that there are indeed components torn out of it. But luckily it is still powered. You link up your Datapad and a TIU shield appears on your viewscreen. A diagnostic program initiates and a large 'scan' button pops up. You press it and a progress bar appears, it crawls slowly across the screen.
A results table then appears. It is filled with highly detailed diagnostic codes and general meaningless gibberish. When you scroll down to the bottom of the table, you are relieved to find a Scan Summery. It details that the Plasma Sphere Balancer is missing. Although many areas of the Recon Unit are functioning, power is not being distributed to its Communication Link and other critical systems. For the Recon Unit to work properly, the Plasma Sphere Balancer will have to be replaced. You print out the Plasma Balancer Blueprint. Maybe you can find out what the TIU are going to do about the Golgesh if the recon Unit can establish its Comms Link.
You receive 1 x Plasma Sphere Balancer Blueprint |
Stage 3 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Landing) (11, 13) |
The silver TIU Recon Unit sits in the slime. A vital component seems to be missing. |
The Sphere clicks into place. You link up your Datapad to check that the Sphere is operating properly. You are shocked to see a link window pop open, and a worried looking human face staring back at you. The man blinks, 'Ummm - you're not Golgesh, are you one of the Slave Races that work for them?' You laugh and explain that you found a TIU Recon Unit crash landed in a Golgesh camp. You were just trying to get into contact with the TIU to find out what they were going to do about them.
The man laughs mirthlessly, 'It's not from the TIU. It came from us in Stormpost. We have a pure water spring, one of the few left on the entire planet. Anyone can have access to it, if they just trade with us. The more useful the trade, the more they can take from the Spring. The TIU traded those Recon Spy Units years ago, it was a good trade. But there is no TIU cavalry running to save us or you. So we will have to do it ourselves.'
He leans forward, his face fills the small Viewscreen, 'We could help each other you know. Stormpost does not forget its friends. We are being bombarded by Golgesh artillery. At the moment we are all safely in the town bunker under the Security Tower. But we can't live down here indefinitely. Can you go a take them out for us?' |
Stage 4 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Rise) (5, 2) |
The Rise is full of huge living guns all pointing south. You guess that is the direction of Stormpost. The sheer numbers of the guns is staggering, you will never be able to destroy them all. And the Golgesh will just grow another to replace any you kill. You are about to give up when you find a grouchy Venom Loader ranting at a Beast Drone. |
The Golgesh seems to be talking to one of the Golgesh beast drones. It stares up to the Venom Loader with empty eyes. The Venom Loader continues his rant at the dumb Drone, 'You see, nobody thinks that us Loaders are important. But if we don't load up the Venom Sacs, then nothing gets killed. But do the upper Casts care about that No! They only care about the Growers making more and more work for the likes of me! If I just inject one node of Battery Venom into the Cannon Synapse, then all this will simply stop when their precious Cannons brains stops!
He then waves a Blueprint in front of the Drone. The vacant beast obviously assumes he is about to get fed, as it follows the Blueprint's every movement.
'I have the power to end it all, but does anyone care, noooo. They just grind me down under more work.'
You can't believe your luck, you step forward and kill the loader where he stands. The Drone glares at you, then ambles off. Irritated that it has lost another meal. You pick up the Cluster Venom Node Blueprint, now you just need to figure out where this Cannon Synapse is.
You receive 1 x Cluster Venom Node Blueprint |
Stage 5 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Rise) (12, 15) |
You find a huge pulsing sac suspended on three thick limbs that are rooted into the floor of the Rise. |
On one of the Synapse limbs has a mouth with light green mist seeping out of it. The odd mouth is the only visible opening, so you push the Cluster Node into it. You are creeped out as you see the mouth actually chews on what you just fed it. The Node suddenly shakes violently and all three limbs collapse under the weight of the massive pulsing sac.
You should return to the Recon Unit and inform Stormpost of your success. |
Stage 6 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Landing) (11, 13) |
You are relieved that the Reconnaissance Unit has not been moved to the Tender yet. |
You look around to make sure that no Golgesh patrols are coming, then link your Datapad to the Recon Unit. A worried face looks out of the link window that pops up on your Viewscreen, 'I'm pleased to see you again. How did it go with the guns?' You tell him that you have managed to shut the Cluster Throwers for the moment. But don't know how long that will last.' The man vanishes from view, then returns with a huge grin. 'That's great, we have just received reports that the shells suddenly stopped. It does not matter how long they are out. Anything to stop the constant bombardment is good for us. Even if it is just for a few days. Thank you.'
You should come to Stormpost, I can give you a reward for your time. I am going to issue a destruct order on the Unit now. We don't want it in Golgesh hands. Just before I do that, I'd like to ask you to retrieve the Recon Files that were ejected from the Unit. It is a standard TIU protocol to do that when a unit has been shot down. The Files have a cloaking field to conceal it. But I can eject the HF Emitter from here for you can find it. Please bring us the Stormpost Recon Files, it will really help us in determining the true extent of the Golgesh offensive. We can't be sure but we think the Recon Unit was shot down over the Vale.
There is a loud click, and a panel pops open. Inside is a softly pulsing HF Emitter.
You receive 1 x HF Emitter |
Stage 7 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Vale) (11, 15) |
A small patch of air shimmers slightly. It might just be a heat haze though, you can't be sure. |
You take out your HF Emitter and advance on the vague patch of moving air when a tide of Creeper Goo suddenly rushes toward you. You quickly put the Emitter back into your Backpack, You must kill 250 Creeper Goo to survive. |
Stage 8 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Vale) (11, 15) |
You watch in horror as a horde of flesh eating Goo rushes towards you. You will need to kill 250 Creeper Goos to live. |
With the last of the vile Golgesh Goo reduced to lifeless jelly before you, you take out the HF Emitter and wave it in air in front of you. The air shatters like a mirror, revealing a small metallic box. This must be the Recon Files that Stormpost needs. You can see the Stormpost Gate to the South of you. The Goo has not terraformed the walls of Stormpost yet.'
You receive 1 x Stormpost Recon Files |
Stage 9 |
Location: | Stormpost (Gate) (4, 11) |
Stormpost has been pounded remorselessly by the Rah Kain forces. The location of the outpost had obviously been chosen to gain control of the isolated outpost. But pure water would probably be priceless to a society built on bio-weaponry. There is nobody around, but eventually you do find a working computer terminal on a pole. |
The person you last spoke to mentioned being in a bunker underneath a tower. You can see a tower in the square, you are just not sure how to contact them inside. You press a few buttons on the keyboard and plan of Stormpost flickers and appears on the viewscreen. A light on the top right hand corner of the keyboard turns from red to green. You then hear a gasp of shock come from the viewscreen and a link window replaces the street map.
The Stormpost guard smiles back at you, 'Well, it's a pleasure to see you. Did you manage to get those Recon Files? If so just place them on the scanner next to the keyboard.
You dig out the metal cube from your backpack and sit it on the scanner. There is a shrill bleep as the files are copied over to the Stormpost main datastore. The Guard nods at you, 'Excellent. I shall teleport your reward to you now.'
A ball of light materializes next to you and reveals an Inkari Magma Rifle. 'Hope you like it, I think that will be more useful than a few credits in your situation. We are having a few problems with our technology as it's not used very often you see. But we need a Bio Sample of the Golgesh Entities advancing on us. With that information we can tune our weaponry to their particular genetic signature. At the moment the hide of the Venom Bombs seem to be resistant to them for some reason. I have placed the Rah Kain Signiture Blueprint into the Gate Trader, come back here to upload the Signature.'

Stage 10 |
Location: | Stormpost (Gate) (4, 11) |
You return to the Stormpost Terminal. The Guard looks out from the link window, 'You got the Rah Kain Signature yet?' |
There is a shrill bleep as the datacube's information is downloaded. The Guard smiles at you again, 'That's excellent work. I'll send this straight to our boffins to work on. But thanks again for the assist, take this Duraplex Body Armor as a thanks. You should move deeper into Stormpost. I'll upload your DNA and make you a Citizen so that our defense systems will not fire on you. You should be protected from the Golgesh by them. Be careful though, speak to you soon.'
You receive 1,188,249 Xp + 30 Skill Points + 1 x Duraplex Body Armor |
