Monolithic Threat |
Stage 1 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Plain) (17, 10) |
You climb out of the Dell and stand on a large open Plain. Your breath is taken away by the sight of a huge spider-like beast walking slowly towards you. Self preservation forces you into hide in behind a small ridge, hoping the space is too small for the titanic horror.
You are utterly flabbergasted to find a ghostly Zella spinning slowly over the sands. You're sure Zella is still in your backpack... |
As you get close to the strange spectral Zella, it suddenly stops spinning and appears to instantly become substantial. The ridiculous droid's eyes flash, 'Hello Citizen. I'm so glad you discovered my Holographic waypoint. I can set these waypoints at various locations of interest. Today I require you to gather genetic material from that massive threat crawling towards Stormpost. We must verify that it is indeed a Golgesh weapon, and not just a wandering Behemoth.'
You rise your hand, then say. 'I'm sorry, but holograms require projectors for them to work. How did you do it without one?' Zella glares at you, 'I am Inkari technology you know. They are quite clever at building stuff, we could chatter about the intricacies of Quantum Technology and let Stormpost be crushed into the sands if you really want. Or you could just look at the Blueprint I have ported into your backpack and try to save the human outpost from an untimely death. The choice is completely up to you. No pressure from me... Absolutely none...'
You receive 1 x Kain Golgesh Test
You had best do what Zella wants and get the Test. The silly Droid might be more useful than it would first appear. |
Stage 2 |
Location: | Kain Salt Run (Plain) (17, 10) |
Zella hovers in place, she hums to herself as she waits. 'Have you managed to get the results from the Golgesh Test?' |
You hold out the Flexi Film towards the little Droid. She scans it with her eyes. 'Ok, the beast does in fact have Golgesh Signatures. So it is attacking Stormpost.' You fold your arms in exasperation, then say. 'That was obvious, you can tell that just by looking at it!'
Zella hovers just before you, then answers with a carefully controlled voice. 'So, you want to gamble with an entire Outpost of innocent humans by attacking the unknown Entity. It could have been a Behemoth and just seen the conflict and more than likely moved away. They tend to avoid large population areas due to the powerful defense systems cities tend to have. A Behemoth can actually be ignored and Stormpost could concentrate on the main Golgesh offensive. But an enraged Behemoth will attack anything. If it was a Behemoth, you would have just made the plight of Stormpost worse by your ill considered actions. But as we now KNOW it's a Golgesh Weapon, Stormpost can factor that additional threat into their defense plans. Please, if you have any more bright ideas, share them with me so I can make sure that they are not utterly stupid.'
You try to find a weakness to what Zella has just said, but give up. After a moment of silence Zella blinks her eyes at you. 'Ok, we now have to establish what type of weapon system the beast is. You will climb the beast and try gather some intelligence for Stormpost. Details are important when entire communities are at stake. I shall set another waypoint on the back of the beast. As I do this it takes up considerable energies, so I cannot talk to you. But I need to do some careful scanning to guide you where the minimum of enemies are. I'm assuming you want to live through this so please do as I request.
Zella then vanishes in a flash of light.
You receive 1 x Stormpost Mechano |

Stage 3 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Back) (2, 2) |
You eventually find Zella's waypoint, hovering in an isolated corner. |
As you get closer to the hologram, she ports from your backpack into place and hovers in front of you. 'Good to see you again Citizen. I see that no systems have been alerted by your climb up the beast, well done. Now, I am here because the beast is venting toxic gasses into this area. I guess it is designed to poison anyone who is trying to get on the back of the beast. Fortunately for you I have analyzed the gas with my scans and have compiled an antidote to the toxins. Please build the Ganth Antidote and bring it back to me so I can administer it. If you don't, your lungs will rupture and you will drown in your own bodily fluids. Be quick now...'
You receive 1 x Ganth Antidote Blueprint |
Stage 4 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Back) (2, 2) |
Zella hovers in place, 'Have you compiled the Ganth Antidote? You don't have much time...' |
You hold the Antidote out toward the tiny robot. 'Right now, I'm going to fire a modified version of my weapon system, it will vaporize the antidote. You will need to breath in the mist before it dissipates.' You stare at the tiny Droid, it's difficult to believe it has a weapon system, but it does have porting abilities. Who knows what else this thing can do.
You then feel your lungs begin to burn, the toxins are obviously building up! Zella then narrows her eyes and the Beaker suddenly pops into a red mist. You breath it in quickly, and immediately feel your chest ease.
The small droid chirps, 'You feeling better now?' You nod vigorously, the antidote vapor is still working and you find you can't quite speak. You gulp down some more air and your breathing begins to become less labored. Zella spins and makes an odd tinkling sound, you guess she's happy. 'Excellent, we should get away from the vents as soon as we can. I have detected a large opening into a Tank. From there you can get into a large area of Corridors. My scans cannot get any details due to the vapors dispersing the scanning beam. Extremely clever of the Golgesh I must admit. But we need to enter the beast and verify what it is carrying. I will set a waypoint on the edge of my scanning range in the Corridor area, meet you there.'
Zella then vanishes from sight in a flash of light.
You receive 1 x Stormpost Mechano |
Stage 5 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Corridors) (5, 6) |
You find Zella's Waypoint in a quiet nook. |
Zella beams into place in front of you, 'Well, this area seems to be a central hub of the Entity. Unfortunately it also has an odd security system in place, so you will need to fool the system into thinking that you are actually a Golgesh. If you don't, you are going to get caught. Now the system seems to be in two parts and with my scans of the Entities I think I can get you past. Compile the Venom Mark and force it into the Cell Node. I think that will tell the system that you are supposed to be here, if not this will be a short trip. Come back when you are done.'
You receive 1 x Ganth Venom Mark Blueprint |
Stage 6 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Corridors) (13, 7) |
You search the twisting corridors for the Cell Node that Zella mentioned. After a while you find a large bulbous growth. |
You touch the ugly growth and are unnerved to find it warm. You push the knobbly ball into the Cell Node. Your own DNA has probably been absorbed into it whilst you were holding the ball. The Node gives a single heave, not unlike a sigh.
You should return to Zella and tell her what you have done. |
Stage 7 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Corridors) (5, 6) |
Zella waits for you to return, 'Have you managed to find the Cell Node and feed it your Venom Mark?' |
Zella spins again with a silly twinkling sound, 'Good! Now we can stay here without being disturbed. I have done some limited scans whilst I was waiting for you. I dare not do too much as we are deep in enemy territory. I have detected two large Bays on either side of this area, they appear to be filled with something. We need to discover what is in them. I have made this Ganth Bay Survey. Return to me when you have completed the survey.
You receive 1 x Ganth Bay Survey Blueprint |
Stage 8 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Corridors) (5, 6) |
Zella appears to be shut down. You ask suddenly concerned, 'You there?'
Zella gives off a low humming sound, then her eyes snap open, 'Yes, I'm fine. I was just allowing my power supply to recharge while you were away. No need to worry. Did you manage to get the Bay Survey? |
She scans the odd jelly-like cube. 'Oh, these objects have distinct DNA structures. One is designed to be large enough to break down walls, the other is an oddly twisted, old organic structure that has been supercharged. I'm not too sure why the Golgesh would do this. The resulting Trooper would be extremely strong, but would burn out due to the stress the extra Signatures put on the overall system. But maybe that's the point. These are disposable Troopers, only needed for one last battle. Which means that the Mega Ganth is a huge troop carrier bringing doom to Stormpost. We cannot let these Golgesh get near Strompost. This deadly combination of wall crushers and suicide troops will leave Stormpost a smoking ruin! The defense systems of Stormpost are powerful, but they can only keep the first offensive at bay. The Mega Ganth will completely overrun it.'
Zella spins round in agitation, then stops suddenly. 'The Golgesh technology is strong, but it is alive. We can use that against itself. We just need to modify the Bay Survey to alarm the system of the Ganth to attack the Troops. I have beamed a Ganth Infection Blueprint into your pack. Use a body part of the Jor Sirroth to anger the Mega Ganth and turn it against its cargo. Insert the Infection into the Cell Node like you did the Venom Mark. Return to me when you are done.'
You receive 1 x Ganth Infection Blueprint |
Stage 9 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Corridors) (13, 7) |
You return to the Cell Node, it looks as vile as the last time you saw it. |
You crush the Gell Cube into the bulbous growth. As it gets absorbed into the Mega Ganth's system, the Node shudders. Large veins bulge on the Nodes surface and the floor starts to undulate with sharp spasms. You had better return to Zella as fast as possible. |
Stage 10 |
Location: | Mega Ganth (Corridors) (5, 6) |
Zella spins on the spot, 'Did you insert the Infection into the Cell Node? We don't have much time, we must stop the Mega Ganth as soon as possible!' |
Zella goes momentarily silent. You look at the little hovering Droid wondering if the batteries finally ran out when her eyes flick open. 'Well, there are HUGE numbers of Globs being made. They are all advancing on the two Bays as we speak. There is also some sign of fire fights begining in the Right Bay. I think that the Golgesh Units are not going to be killed quietly. I guess you should leave as fast as possible. I must return to Stormpost and inform them of what we have just achieved. Good luck Citizen.'
With that, Zella disappears in a bright flash.
