Stage 1 |
Location: | The Circle (Killing Ground) (11, 3) |
Syrus floats in place, his force field shimmers as he turns. |
|
The round Droid chirps cheerfully, 'It's strange to see history unfolding right before you. With the Rebellion Sphere Hunters the Accord gave up using manned vehicles, then from out the blue the Wraith appeared. Quad cannon walking death. We had nothing to counter it, so our tech panicked and came out with the Sentinel. It wasn't as sleek at the Wraith, but it got the job done. As well as it's reliance on claws rather than cannons meant it could fight without overheating or running out of ammo. All it needed to so was fire off some chaff and smoke and tear the wraiths apart. But that has all to be discovered. Right now the Accord are thinking they are doomed. But we can help.'
Syrus moves in and tilts forward conspiratorially, 'If you go and get a Black Box from one of the Wraiths, I can write a Virus that will slow the Wraith's controls down. Effectively making them walk in slow motion. The Rebellion will figure it out in a day or so. But several Wraiths will be destroyed in the mean time.'
Go retrieve a Wraith Black Box for Syrus. |

Stage 2 |
Location: | The Circle (Killing Ground) (11, 3) |
Syrus waits for your return, 'Did you get a Wraith Black box yet?' |
|
You drop the Black Box into the Syrus's belly tray. After a few moments the Droid emits a series of ear piercing bleeps. You cry out and cover your ears against the sudden noise. 'Oops, sorry. I maybe should have used an ultrasonic transmission. Just go tell me what happens to the Wraiths now I've uploaded the virus.'
You climb a low ridge and look around for a Wraith. It is not long before one comes lumbering into view. You shout down to Syrus nervously, 'They are still moving, maybe you did something wrong?' Even from your current position you can feel Syrus's smugness. Your heart freezes as the Wraith you were watching stops and turns towards you. Obviously your shouts attracted it. The four Plasma cannons charge and you watch in frozen terror as it prepares to fire. Then suddenly the four plasma engines powering the cannons are ejected and the cannons power down immediately. The Wraith then staggers and slowly starts to move away. A Sentinel walks up to the defenseless Wraith and tears it apart with its claws. From your vantage point you see other Wraith eject their Plasma Engines and then fall to the now rampaging Sentinels.
Syrus then calls up to you, 'The Virus is only triggered when the Wraith fires on a target, so I needed an easy target for the first Wraith to be infected. Thanks again for your help. When the Wraith goes into distress it sends a message to all surrounding units, of course my Virus is piggy-backed on that signal therefore infecting all Units in range. Now come back, I have something to tell you.' |

Stage 3 |
Location: | The Circle (Killing Ground) (11, 3) |
Syrus waits for you to return. |
|
Syrus's forcefield shimmers around him, 'Now-now. There is no reason to be upset.' You say in a low tone, 'I just had an enemy walker target me, you could have told me about how the virus was triggered!' The Droid laughs then says, 'Then you wouldn't have allowed it to target you with it's quad-cannons. It's done now, it's all good. But that is not what I want to tell you. I just did a scan and detected a Tarrolan Gate. The fact that my scan actually worked means that we have come to the edge of the Quantum Curtain. You have the Comms Unit that Accord gave you? Can you turn it on, my comms-link is not shielded so it does not work within this time shift. Just turn it on and I'll transmit our findings and get a Mission Update.'
You take out the Accord Comms Unit and turn it on, then hold it out towards Syrus. He gives a sharp series of bleeps and after a second the Unit in your hand gives a series of bleeps in answer. Syrus says, 'Accord is pleased, it seems that the the fact that the quantum effect has a distinct area is a good thing. She also says that it looks like the Starport is not too far from our position if her calculations are correct. She says we should go through the Gate and search for the Golgesh Ganth nest. Come on, there is no point in wallowing in the past, Meet me in the Tarrolan Gate.'
Just as he fades away he says, 'And you really should get a patch for your sense of humor.'
