Toxic Garden |
Stage 1 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Plaza) (17, 12) |
Syrus spins slowly in place enveloped by his shimmering force field. |
He chirps merrily, 'Well we found the Golgesh, I was beginning to wonder if we ever would! But they seem to be fortifying this area with those plant-things. We don't want them to plant too many, we need a way to stop them.' You look around and say, 'I would never have guessed that this was a Golgesh area. They generally terraform the area. I was under the impression that their biotechnology would only grow when rooted in the Golgesh slime.'
Syrus hums gently to himself, 'Yes I do have several notes in my archive about them needing to do just that. We should see how the Cultivators are getting the Venom Spitters to grow without the Golgesh slime. And when I say we, I mean you should go find out how the Cultivators have managed to get the Venom Spitters to grow. I'll be here when you have found something.' |
Stage 2 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Plaza) (17, 12) |
Syrus waits for your return, 'Have you found out how the Cultivators are getting the Venom Spitters to grow?' |
You show the floating Droid the odd Bottle you found the Cultivators carrying. He scans the bottle then goes silent for a moment. 'I don't really get it. This is a form of Golgesh terraforming slime, but it's highly unstable. It would require massive amounts of water to sustain itself. Where would there be huge amounts of water in Tarrolan?'
You shrug and say, 'Every city needs water, so there are water mains or old pipes with water in them maybe?' Syrus spins on the spot like a top, 'Of course, they are using the water pipes, the roots of the Venom Spitters can rupture the pipes and get nourishment from the water born golgesh slime. It would need constant topping-up, but when it's in the plumbing that is easily done. We just need to get the system flushed. Hold it. I just need to search my records.'
Syrus goes quiet for a moment, 'Good news, the Tarrolan Computer Core is nearby in Civic Hall found on the West Side. I'll meet you there.'
Without a word he fades from view.
You should meet Syrus in the West Side. |
Stage 3 |
Location: | Tarrolan (West Side) (14, 9) |
Syrus spins slowly on the spot, his force field sparks with raw energy. |
The Droid halts it's nervous movement, 'I just got attacked by a crab-thingie. I have done a scan but I see no Civic Hall. I need to try and find out where the Computer Core is now located. They must have moved it.' Just as Syrus is speaking you see a large Sar Loth lumber into view. It scuttles straight for the poor Droid. His field glows white in fright, 'I can't do a scan when I'm under attack. You will need to protect me Unit whilst I do it.'
Give Syrus time to scan for the location of the Computer Core by killing 200 Kain Sar Loth. |
Stage 4 |
Location: | Tarrolan (West Side) (14, 9) |
Syrus's force field pulses slowly with white light, 'I haven't completed my scan, make sure those Sar Loth do not interrupt me!' |
Syrus force field shimmers, then fades back to normal levels, 'Good, I'm almost done.' The spherical droid goes silent and gives a series of low bleeping sounds.
'Got it, the Civic Hall has probably been destroyed, but the clever Tarrolan City Planners put the Computer Core within a Bunker in the basement of the City Hall to protect it. The Bunker is shielded against scans of course, but there is only one building that is scan impervious within the West Side. You will find the Bunker to the West of our current position. Go into the Bunker and convince the Computer Core to flush the Water System with detergent to get rid of the Hydro Slime sustaining the Venom Spitters. I'll stay here, but be quick. I don't want those dumb crabs getting all brave again.' |
Stage 5 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Bunker) (2, 2) |
You enter the small Bunker, it is dominated by a large computer terminal.
You walk up to the terminal and start randomly typing. The viewscreen is completely blank, but after flash of a blue scanner beam from above, the viewscreen fills with a pleasant female AI. 'I am Tarrolan. I'm sorry Unit G27, but I cannot allow you to access my systems due to you falsifying Data Records and breaking City Codes and murdering inhabitants of the Works. I have been watching you for a while. You will require a high level Security Clearance to convince me that you are not a common criminal.' |
You stare dumbfounded at Tarrolan, then angrily slam the Accord Shielded Comms Unit on the Scanner next to the keyboard. The scanner light flows over the Unit. Tarrolan blinks in astonishment, 'This is a DNA encoded military Field Unit. It is also highly shielded against quantum effects for some reason. The only way you could be using this item is if the Accord accepts you as a trusted officer. Please give me a reason for murdering the inhabitants of the Works.' You tell her that a Police Droid at the gate asked you to do it as they could not leave the Gate. They are frustrated that their Jurisdiction only covers the Gate. The rest of Tarrolan is in chaos and is overrun by Mutant Squatters and Golgesh insurgents.
Tarrolan pouts at you, 'So you claim that you were unofficially deputized by an Officer at the Gate to clear away squatters. I must verify this, please wait there.' The AI vanishes from view.

Tarrolan reappears on the viewscreen, 'It appear that you are correct, I have been chastised by my Officers for not reading their situation reports for several centuries. But I was busy trying to balance the cities finances without any regular tax income, it's not easy you know. I have now extended the patrol area of the Officers to extend across the whole of Tarrolan and set aside finance to make more Police Droid replacements. I was also advised by the Police Department to listen to any request you ask for. So is there anything else I can do for you Citizen G27 Unit?'
You calm down a bit, then explain that the Golgesh have invaded the City and are using the water system to sustain their beasts. If the water system was flushed with detergent this would kill the Golgesh pollutant infecting the water system making it extremely difficult for the Golgesh to sustain themselves.
Tarrolan nods at you her expression stern, 'I have sustained severe damage to my memory store, but now you have told me what those green Entities are, I have now accessed the information I have of the Golgesh. Due to the damage I could not identify them before, I simply could not make the connection. I concur that they are in fact non-citizens of Tarrolan and should be expelled from the City at once. Thank you again for helping me with this Citizen G27. I will update Law Enforcement at once with this new information. I shall also contact the Accord and ask for her assistance. We have been cut off for an extended time period due to internal hostilities. But the security frequency inside the Comms Unit and with the Quantum Shielding to cut through the strange interference I will now be able to get back into contact with the Accord. Thank you again for your help Citizen G27 Unit. I shall sterilize the water system at once. I'm sorry, but you will not be able to drink any water for 2 weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience. I do have one request, There is a strange Golgesh Entity spewing pollution over Tarrolan from the Towers. Please bring me a sample of the Toxin that they are using. I can then filter it out.' |
Stage 6 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Bunker) (2, 2) |
Tarrolan smiles up at you from the viewscreen, 'Welcome back citizen G27 Unit, have you a sample of the Pollutant the Golgesh are spreading within the Towers?' |
The Blue scanner light traces the Nebuliser Toxin Sac, Tarrolan nods. 'This is not an agent used for terraforming or killing. It's filling the air with Golgesh nourishment, they are feeding the huge Entity within the Starport I guess. You should return to your Droid friend and try to deal with whatever they are tending. Good luck Citizen G27.'
Return to Syrus in the West Side. |
Stage 7 |
Location: | Tarrolan (West Side) (14, 9) |
Syrus's force field pulses slowly with white light, 'Where have you been, tell me you found the Computer Core already!' |
You explain that the Tarrolan was having difficulty identifying the Golgesh due to memory damage. Now she sees them as Golgesh and she wants them taken care of. She also extended the jurisdiction of the Police Droids, as well as getting back into contact with Accord. Syrus goes silent again, 'Wow, you seem to have been busy. Did Tarrolan mention any gigantic Golgesh monsters being grown anywhere?'
You take a long breath and say, 'As a matter of fact she did. Apparently there us a huge Golgesh Entity in the Starport. We should go check it out.' Syrus chuckles, 'Accord was right again, I shall meet you there.'
Then he silently fades from sight. |
Stage 8 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Starport) (2, 2) |
Syrus spins in place, his force field pulses slowly with white light. |
The Spherical Droid stops his spin, 'No, actually. I'm not alright, I've just been attacked by a horrible Golgesh monster. It really hurt, it's good that it is not that clever as I could simply cloak myself and it wandered away after a bit. What I did find out is that it's Venom has a strange similarity to the Nebuliser Toxin. Tarrolan has just updated the City Datastore with the results of her latest information on them. But the Verrok Nor venom is slightly off. We should go get a definite sample of it and compare the Nebuliser Toxins results. It might be useful later.'
Go get a Verrok Nor Venom Gland |
Stage 9 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Starport) (2, 2) |
Syrus waits for your return, 'You got a sample of the Verrok Nor Toxin?' |
Syrus belly tray slips open and you drop the Gland into it. After a few seconds Syrus says, 'There are definite similarities with the Nebuliser Toxin, but important differences are also present. There are massive growth and adrenal agents within the Vorrok Nor Gland. It's extremely acidic, but to a Golgesh it might have large mutagenic effects.'
The force field shimmers brightly for a second, you assume Syrus is nervous.
The Droid continues after a moments silence, 'I... errrr. I have done a scan of the area and detected a huge Entity to the east of our position. I also managed to do a detailed internal scan. There is a large internal hall and a smaller off shoot. We should enter the Ganth and see if we can stop its development. From DNA extrapolations the final Entity could be truly monstrous. We cannot allow the Golgesh to finish their creation.'
Without another word he fades from view. |
Stage 10 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Ganth) (12, 7) |
Syrus hovers in place, his force field arcing with blue-white sparks. |
The Droid's force field ripples with rings of pure energy, 'I don't know how you can be so calm. You don't even have internal cloaking or field projection! But I have detected just two hostiles in this area. Thankfully neither are particularly numerous. You best AVOID the Mordinax at all costs. But there is an odd Golgesh. It's a Sequencer, for it goes around altering the DNA structures of the Ganth. I suspect it is shaping the beast, if this is true then the Sequencer must have details of the growth plans of the Ganth. Go get these plans, we might be able to figure out a plan of attack once we know more about how this thing works.'
Take the Ganth Development Plan from the Kain Sequencer. |
Stage 11 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Ganth) (12, 7) |
Syrus waits for your return, 'Did you get a Ganth Development Plan from the Sequencers?' |
You show the odd book to the Droid, 'Typical, it's not an electrical based device, you will just have to show me each page and I'll have to scan them each individually.' It takes a while but eventually Syrus completes the scanning the book.
He goes silent for a while as he examines the data.
Suddenly there are several bleeps and his belly tray slides open, inside is a Blueprint. 'The Ganth might be massive, but it is still a toddler. It's system is extremely susceptible to biological attacks due to it's immune system being so early in it's development. That might be another reason the Golgesh chose this out of the way place to nurture the beast. We can actually use the Golgesh own biotechnology to poison the young Ganth. Complete the Blueprint and feed then Poison Pill to the Young Ganth. Come back when your done.'
You receive 1 x Ganth Poison Pill Blueprint |
Stage 12 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Ganth) (3, 8) |
A massive mouth on the slimy floor opens and closes before you. |
You don't fancy getting too close to the massive mouth so you carefully throw the Pill into the Ganths gaping maw. Almost immediately the floor starts to heave and the massive beast roars in pain.
You should quickly return to Syrus! |
Stage 13 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Ganth) (12, 7) |
Syrus hovers in place, 'Have you fed the Poison Pill to the Ganth?' |
'I know the beast is complaining, just wait till I do a detailed scan.' You stare at the Droid in amazement, he constantly hides behind a cloaking field but now he suddenly gets all brave inside a raging beast!
After a few bleeps Syrus chirps, 'Excellent, vital organs are shutting down and the immune system is now trying to attack the hostile bio agent. Unfortunately for the Ganth it seems unable to see the Golgesh poison and is only making the damage done by our pill even worse. Between the two it will be dead in a matter of minutes as the heart is about to implode. We really should exit rather quickly now. Meet you outside.'
He of course fades from view, meet up with Syrus in the Starport. |
Stage 14 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Starport) (2, 2) |
Syrus hovers in place, 'Glad to see you back, are you undamaged?' |
You would say something else, but you are drowned out by the deafening death cries of the Ganth. It flounders about in agony, flattening entire buildings in it's path. But eventually it shudders and falls to the uncaring ground. Blood starts to pour out of it in thick gouts.
Syrus chirps, 'I guess it's dead then. That was the reason you came here in the first place, to find the Ganth?' You nod - numb to your success, you had almost forgotten why you were doing this. It was to protect Stormpost from another attack, you wonder absently how they are doing...
You receive 1,676,169 Xp + 35 Skill Points |
