Teeth in the Dark |
Stage 1 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Sewers) (4, 8) |
You are surprised to find a Tarrolan Peace Officer standing in the darkness of the cold sewers. |
The Droid stares at you for a moment, then scans you. 'Ah, Citizen G27 Unit Please wait.' The Droid then stares past you for a moment. After a few seconds its gaze snaps onto you, 'I request your assistance. I have been ordered to search for another Rebellion Quantum Laboratory, Tarrolan has authorized your involvement in this operation. Please kill 100 Tarrolan Mutagators, they will not allow us to pass. I shall remain here for your return. |
Stage 2 |
Location: | Tarrolan (Sewers) (4, 8) |
The Peace Officer waits for your return, 'Greetings Citizen, have you completed the task set?' |
The Droid nods, 'Excellent, Tarrolan stated that I should let you execute the tasks and update you as and when required. This is to protect Tarrolan property. We shall now proceed to the Basement. We need to verify that the structure there is indeed the hidden Laboratory that Rebellion Records hint to. Our task is to also make sure nothing untoward is occurring within the Laboratory. You shall meet me there.'
Meet the Peace Officer in the Basement |
Stage 3 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Basement) (11, 14) |
The Peace Officer waits for your return, 'Greetings Citizen, are you ready for your next task?' |
The droid looks around, 'Excellent, there does indeed seem to be odd occurrences happening within the basement. But Tarrolan has stated that she requires a sample of any phenomenon we find. You shall gather some material from the local phenomenon within the Basement. I shall be here when you complete your task.' |
Stage 4 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Basement) (11, 14) |
The Peace Officer waits for your return, 'Greetings Citizen, have you managed to acquire some Material from the local phenomenon?' |
The Droid takes it from you, 'Excellent. Tarrolan's confidence in you seems well founded.' He scans the glowing blue material then goes silent for a while.
You are beginning to wonder if the droid has shut down when his head suddenly snaps up, 'Tarrolan thanks you for your help, we shall now proceed and attempt to shut down any Rebellion Experiment that has been left running. Tarrolan cannot afford any quantum pollution within city limits. We shall proceed to the Generator. |
Stage 5 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Generator Room) (2, 14) |
The Peace Officer waits for you. 'Greetings Citizen, are you ready for your next task?' |
The Peace Officer nods, 'Excellent, we now have to verify what sort of condition the Laboratory systems are in. You will acquire Laboratory Maintenance Logs from the Maintenance Arms within the Area. I shall wait here for your return. |
Stage 6 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Generator Room) (2, 14) |
The Peace Officer waits for your return, 'Have you discovered the Laboratory Maintenance Logs yet?' |
The Peace Officer nods, 'Excellent.' He scans the logs then goes silent for a few moments. 'The Rebellion Facility appears to be in excellent working order due to the tireless efforts of the Maintenance AI within the facility. It would be commended, if it were not working for the enemy, but who said reality was fair?' You are surprised by the sudden flash of personality within the Droid. Maybe there is more to him that you first thought.
'We shall now proceed to the Testing Chamber, I shall meet you there.' |
Stage 7 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Testing Chamber) (2, 15) |
The Peace Officer waves you over. 'Greetings and salutations Citizen, are you ready for your next task?' |
You notice the Officer has his weapon unholstered, 'I have noted that there are fugitives at large within this area. Unfortunately I cannot seem to arrest them. I have updated Tarrolan and she has requested that you try to apprehend one of the Technicians. I shall await your return. |
Stage 8 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Testing Chamber) (2, 15) |
The Peace Officer awaits your return, 'Welcome back, have you managed to apprehend one of the Fugitive Technicians?' |
You hand over the flickering Cyborg Optic. The Peace Officer looks at it confused. 'What is this?' You explain that was all that was left of the Fugitive when you Apprehended them. The Droid then scans it and a loud bleep comes out the side of his head. He glances up at you. You could swear that he was embarrassed, but his face shows no expression so you can't be sure.
'Please wait for me to update Tarrolan with this new information.' The officer then stares off into the middle distance for a moment. 'Ummm, the results I sent seem to indicate that the Cyborg is in a temporal flux. Also if the Cyborg actually manifests within our dimension, the fugitive is to be sent to the Eastern Front to be Court Marshalled then shot by firing squad as traitors to Tarrolan. Outside the City limits they would have no civil rights and can be treated as enemies of the State. It's so convenient to have a legal loophole to kill those who are inconvenient to you. Best they stay wherever they are.' You see a flash of anger within the featureless steel face, this Droid hates to see any injustice. Tarrolan built him well, they should watch their step.
We cannot hep these individuals, we must move on. Tarrolan has asked us to look into an area labeled Portal Chamber. I shall meet you there.
At the name of the area, you get a sinking feeling... |
Stage 9 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Portal Chamber) (16, 16) |
The Peace Officer waves you over. |
You are astonished when the Droid actually pats you on your shoulder, 'Glad you're here Citizen. I have no idea what the Rebellion were up to, but it was NOT GOOD. I have tried to do a scan of the Chamber, but there is just too much quantum interference. I also think I'm losing it as I saw a tall person made of purple fire wandering around if you can believe that...' The Officer drones on, but you do not hear him. It couldn't be that the Echo have returned, no it just couldn't be...
'Are you even listening to me!' The police Droid has his hands on his hips staring straight at you. You blink at him stupidly, 'I said, Tarrolan wants a sample of the Flaming Crystal I found during my preliminary patrol of the area. Go get one.' |
Stage 10 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Portal Chamber) (13, 10) |
It does not take long to find the Flaming Crystal the Peace Officer mentioned. It hovers before you. |
You kick the floating crystal and it just gives a low chime. You will need something more substantial to get a chunk off that floating rock. But as you turn around you are horrified to see a wall of Darkfire Hulks descending on you. Obviously they don't like their stuff being vandalized.
You must kill 150 Darkfire Hulks to survive. |
Stage 11 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Portal Chamber) (13, 10) |
A wall of Darkfire Hulks descend on you, you need to kill them all to live. |
As the last of the Hulks fall before you, you turn your attention back to the burning Crystal. With a smile you slam the Sledge Hammer into it, if a simple kick upset the Hulks this is going to drive them nuts! It gives another chiming alarm and cracks along the left side. A splinter flies off to the left and hits the wall. You go and pick it up quickly and start running...
You should take the Crystal Sample back to the Peace Officer.
You receive 1 x Flaming Focus Shard |
Stage 12 |
Location: | Rebel Lab (Portal Chamber) (16, 16) |
The Peace Officer waits for your return, 'Have you taken a sample of the Flaming Crystal I found yet?' |
He takes the odd Shard from you, 'I wonder how it keeps its flame going? And why does the fire have no heat?' You simply shrug, last time Darkfire burnt you. The Droid then scans it and goes silent.
After a few moments his head snaps up, 'Tarrolan has no records that match this energy signature. But her Datastore has suffered damage so her accessible records are incomplete. Do you know anything about this strange phenomenon?'
You nod and say, 'I met a race of Entities from another dimension of existence. They call themselves the Echo. I'm not too sure what they are after. They want to either destroy our reality or take it over. They once mentioned some Masters, but I don't know who or what they could be. I do know that the Echo should NEVER be trusted. You cannot bargain with them in any way. They just lie and manipulate you for their own gain. You must always kill them and push them back or be destroyed. Their technology is also strange, it seems to be centered around the Runes, Crystals and Darkfire. There is some psychic connection to the Echo but that is all I know.
The Peace Officer nods slowly, 'I agree, the large Hulk that I met simply attacks on sight. I shall relay your information to Tarrolan.'
He goes silent for a moment.
The Droid then sighs deeply, 'You mentioned pushing them back to their own dimension, Tarrolan asks us to do just that. We cannot allow another enemy to overrun us now that we just finished the civil war between the Accord and Rebellion. I take it we need to enter the Jump Portal?' You nod.
The Droid checks his ammo store, 'Right I'll go first, we don't want you being killed in that weird purple fire pillar. I'll meet you on the other side. Wherever that might be.
Go through the Jump Portal and meet up with the Peace Officer. |
Stage 13 |
Location: | Darkscape (Maw) (12, 3) |
The Peace Officer looks around in fear. |
The Droid stares at you, 'Wow, you stepped onto the Jump Pad into that pillar of fire! I didn't expect that. But I'm glad you're here. My number is 4595, now what do we do here?' You look around, then say 'There is that massive Crystal, lets go and take a look at it.' |
Stage 14 |
Location: | Darkscape (Maw) (13, 7) |
The top of a massive pulsing crystal hovers before you. The Crystal is so tall is actually goes through the floor into the dark depths below. |
You lean forward, then say '4595, is there something inside this thing?' The Droid scans the Crystal, 'It's a strange lattice of an unknown material, but at its very center is a thin river of fire. It is highly unlikely that this is a natural occurrance. So something is doing this, we should maybe put a stop to it somehow?'
Again you look around and you see an Echo approach you. It cups its hands and a ball of fire manifests within them. His yellow eyes blaze and the ball flares and gets bigger. 4595 calmly aims his Peacegiver and fires. The head of the Echo kicks back and it falls to the sandy ground, the darkfireball dissipates immediately. You shudder at the head shot and make a mental not NOT to get on 4595's bad side.
The Droid walks up to the corpse, 'Well they die well. This Darkfire seems integral to that big Crystal.' He kicks the purple corpse at his feet, 'These Echo seem to manipulate the Darkfire. I assume if something were to happen to them, that would be bad for the Crystal.' He looks at you, 'So I guess we kill them all. I'll stay here and take out any who come close to the Crystal, you search the area and take care 200 Echo Fireshaper's.' |
Stage 15 |
Location: | Darkscape (Maw) (13, 7) |
4595 reloads his weapon, 'Have you taken out those 200 Fireshapers yet?' |
The Droid turns and scans the Chrystal, 'I see a flickering of the fire river, hold it...' Before he can finish what he was saying the crystal suddenly explodes in Darkfire for a moment, then the fire settles down. The fire now fills the entire Crystal. The Runic portal beside it flickers then goes out. 4595 gives a mirthless laugh, 'Without the shaper's the Crystal seems not to be able to focus all the Darkfire properly and the Portal has shut down. How sad.'
'I have scanned the area and there seems to be an Echo below us which is feeding this Crystal Darkfire. We need to do something about that. I shall meet you below in the Nexus. |
Stage 16 |
Location: | Darkscape (Nexus) (15, 11) |
4595 waves you over. |
While I was waiting for you to get here, I did a scan and found the base of the Crystal we found in the Maw. The Crystal has an internal structure that is keyed into a particular frequency of Darkfire. If we were to pollute that energy, I suspect the Crystal might not function very well. I have produced this Blueprint, construct the Darkfire Shard and come back to me.'
You receive 1 x Darkfire Shard Blueprint. |
Stage 17 |
Location: | Darkscape (Nexus) (15, 11) |
4595 waits for your return, 'Have you built that Darkfire Shard yet?' |
The Droid looks at the blazing crystal, 'I am not really programmed for such things, but I think I can alter the nature of the flame with my scanner. Lets hope I'm correct.' The Droid casts a blue scanner beam onto the shard... nothing happens. He then tightens the beam into a thin bright blue line, slowly the flame changes colour. You can't help but be impressed by the Police Droid.
He hands it to you, 'Slam this into the base of the Crystal, I hope it destabilizes the energy within.'
You receive 1 x Firestorm Shard |
Stage 18 |
Location: | Darkscape (Nexus) (12, 6) |
The base of the Channeling Crystal hangs before you. You will need something to pollute the fire boiling within. |
You take the Firestorm Shard and look at the fire boiling within, you have no idea how this works. You just hope it does. Taking a deep breath you slam the Firestorm into the Crystal. You expect it to shatter, but you are astonished that it is absorbed into it like throwing a stone into a pool of water.
You step back.
The colour of the Crystal begins to change. A scream of fury causes you to turn. A Watcher points her staff at you, 'Fool, what have you done. If the Channeling Fires go out then our portal into the other Realm will close and all our hard work will be in vain. The Masters shall not be denied! Prepare to die!'
You must defend yourself against the enraged Echo Watcher (Champion). |
Stage 19 |
Location: | Darkscape (Nexus) (12, 6) |
An Echo Watcher (Champion) advances towards you, 'Prepare to die!' she screams. |
The Watcher lies at your feet defeated. You turn to see the Channelling Crystal fires shimmer and boil within. Lightning arcs across the surface and you start to back up hurriedly. You only take a few steps before you see cracks appearing on the surface. You turn and run. You only manage a few steps when the exploding Crystal blows you off your feet. As the dust settles you hear the grinding crash of the Crystal now collapsing in on itself without the Darkfire holding its shape.
You should return to 4595 and tell him what has happened. |
Stage 20 |
Location: | Darkscape (Nexus) (15, 11) |
4595 looks for you in concern, 'How did it go, did the Firestorm have any effect on the Crystal?' |
The Droid nods, 'That's good, it will take them some time to replace that Crystal I hope, but we now have a problem. The Crystal was powering the Portal to the Rebel Laboratory. Now we have destroyed the Crystal and the Portal is shut down. How will we get back?'
You stare back at the Droid and say, 'I have no idea, but we'll think of something. We have to...'
You receive 2,354,544 Xp + 50 Skill Points |
